CARBON REDUCTION UPDATE
SUPPORTING MEMBERS’
DECARBONISATION
PLANS OVER THE
PAST YEAR
TEC remains convinced that 80% of the
solutions to decarbonisation challenges
can be found within the sector itself. A
key priority has been ensuring that critical
information and best practices are shared
effectively among members.
Over the past year, TEC has produced guidance to highlight
areas of success identified through the carbon reduction
member survey, such as establishing energy working groups
and heating and cooling policies. Members have also been
signposted to valuable resources, including Net Zero Hubs in
England and Energy Services Wales in Wales. We have also
hosted several webinars and held working group meetings,
providing members with opportunities to share best practices,
collaborate, and learn from one another.”
Helping members navigate the market continues to be a priority
for TEC. Over the past year, utility prices have decreased
slightly, altering the payback periods for various technologies.
Similarly, technology costs have shifted, with the cost of
solar installations becoming more affordable. These changes
present new opportunities for members to consider in their
decarbonisation strategies.

The member survey also
revealed that some were unaware of the additional services
available through the TEC framework, such as demand-side
management and solar feasibility studies. As a response, TEC
has enhanced member communications, delivering content in
shorter, more engaging, and easily digestible formats.
Lastly, direct engagement with members has been a significant
focus. TEC has provided bespoke support on a one-to-one
basis, including assistance with the development of individual
carbon management plans. These efforts reflect TEC’s continued
commitment to empowering members in their decarbonisation
journeys.
